The image shows a stag standing on a snow-covered path in a forest. The stag is on the right side of the image, facing the distant horizon. The horizon is low in the composition, where the snowy ground meets the silhouettes of bare trees extending skyward. The artwork uses a monochrome palette of varying shades of grey and black. The textures are soft, with details in the trees and stag's fur created by hatching and stippling. In the distance, an almost full moon shines through the bare branches, casting a gentle glow over the landscape.
