This is a photograph of a medallion with an intricate design. The medallion features a depiction of a sea creature entangled with a trident-like object, surrounded by waves. In the background, ships can be seen sailing. The medallion is inscribed with Latin text around its edge and within its lower margin. The top text reads "ASSERENDI NOVA SPES COMMERCI," which translates to "The New Hope of Asserting Trade." At the bottom, there are Roman numerals "MDCCLXXXI," representing the year 1781. The design conveys a nautical theme, emphasizing detailed engraving typical of 18th-century medallions.
