About this work

Mini Cooper (BMW Group) in Dülmen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany The Mini dates back to the classic Mini from 1959, which was developed by Alec Issigonis for the British Motor Corporation. With its transversely mounted engine and front-wheel drive, it was revolutionary in terms of space efficiency and became a cult car of the 1960s. After several changes of ownership, BMW took over the brand and launched a modern reissue in 2001. The new Mini was larger and safer, but retained the retro design with round headlights and a contrasting roof. The modern Mini stands for compact size, a sporty “go-kart feeling”, individual design options, and modern technology—from the classic 3-door model to the electric version.
