About this work

Multi-coloured kukuri-zaru talismans (worship balls) around a Kōshin statue, at Kongoji Yasaka Kōshin-dō temple, Higashiyama-ku district, Kyoto, Japan. Worshippers write their wishes on these balls made of cloth called “kukurizaru”, representing the three wise monkeys, and hang them at the site.
