About this work

Facade of an office building of the Westdeutsche Lotterie, Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany The WestLotto headquarters in Münster is the main office of Westdeutsche Lotterie (WestLotto). An architectural competition was held in 1958 to design the headquarters, which was won by renowned Münster architect Harald Deilmann. The modern company building was constructed on a plot of land on Weseler Straße that was still undeveloped at the time and made a clear architectural statement for the development of a new service district in the city. Since its original construction, the building has been expanded and renovated several times. For the central building, Harald Deilmann used a clearly structured grid that is both urban and functional and is reflected in both the façade and the interior design. The façade combines black glazed clinker bricks with aluminum windows, giving the building a distinctive appearance in the urban context despite its functionality. In 1978, the building was given a striking black tower, which further developed the architectural design language. In 1994, the administration building was raised, contributing to a change in its silhouette.
