About this work

A Muslim female worshipper sitting at the threshold of the main building of the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, as the sign on the gate reads "Ladies Are Not Allowed." Women are not allowed to enter the inside of the main building of the Hazratbal shrine, which houses a relic believed by Muslims to be a hair strand from their prophet Mohammed's beard.
