About this work

Tormin Bridge (at sunrise), Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany The 145-meter-long Tormin Bridge is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Münster. It spans the Aasee lake and connects parts of the city center with adjacent residential and green areas. It was built in the 20th century as part of urban transport and road planning. The aim was to create safe crossings for pedestrians and, in particular, for cyclists, who are very numerous in Münster. The bridge has a functional design and blends inconspicuously into the cityscape. The design is by architects Fritz König and Albert Thomas. It was named after Richard Tormin, an engineer and city planning officer. He was also responsible for the previous structure, built in 1926. The current bridge was inaugurated on May 27, 1989.
