About this work

Schiessentümpel at the Black Ernz near Waldbillig, Luxembourg The Schiessentümpel (also known as Schéissendëmpel) is a picturesque waterfall in the Müllerthal, also known as “Little Luxembourg Switzerland”. It is located near the village of Waldbillig and is one of the country’s most famous natural attractions. The Schiessentümpel is formed where the Schwarze Ernz stream cascades down several sandstone steps. The water splits into three cascades that flow into a small pool. The surrounding rocks and dense forest give the place a romantic, almost fairy-tale atmosphere. The stone arch bridge from 1879, which crosses the waterfall, is particularly striking. It was built as part of the expansion of hiking trails and is now a popular photo motif. The Schiessentümpel is a nature reserve and part of the Müllerthal Trail. It combines nature, history, and tourism to form a landmark of Luxembourg.
