About this work

A (pre-)daguerreotype incunable of photography: Steinheil's and von Kobell's picture of Munich's Neuhauser Straße with St. Michael's Church on the left side. This photograph was taken in July 1839 on silver chloride paper. Taken from Steinheil's first floor study in the Old Academy. Another photograph, made from a window further to the right, was probably made around the same time, possibly the same day.
