About this work
View straight up into the octagon of Aachen Cathedral, showing the neo-Byzantine dome mosaic (1880–81, designed by Jean-Baptiste de Béthune, executed by Antonio Salviati) depicting Christ in Majesty surrounded by the twenty-four Elders of the Apocalypse, with the Romanesque Barbarossa Chandelier (c. 1165–70) in the foreground.
