About this work

Black dotted sand perch (Parapercis millepunctata), Anilao, Philippines. This species inhabits the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region. It exhibits a streamlined body that can reach up to 25 centimetres (0.82 ft) in length and primarily feeds on small invertebrates and crustaceans. Despite their remarkable ability to blend in, they are not immune to predation. Larger fish, rays, and other carnivorous sea creatures consider these fish as a meal.
