About this work

Chess set composed of Rio Staunton pieces by House of Chess and a Wegiel Handmade Wooden Chess Board. The pieces are made of Ringy rosewood and boxwood, with triple internal weighting, beveled bases, and green felt pads on the underside to reduce frictional wear on the board. The knight is hand-carved, with defined anatomical features including pronounced eyes and a braided mane. The pieces have a semi-gloss polished finish, and the set includes additional queens for pawn promotion. The approximate weight of the pieces is 3.5 lb. The Wegiel board is a wooden tournament-format chessboard measuring approximately 18.9 × 18.9 in, with a height of 0.6 in. It is made of mahogany and sycamore, with 2-inch squares and contrasting inlays. Algebraic coordinates are printed along the borders for square identification, game notation, and analysis. The approximate weight of the board is 6.5 lb, giving a combined total weight of about 10 lb.
