About this work

Lower altar painting at the southern side altar of the scapular brotherhood, depicting Saint Laurentia. The inscription (upper left) reads:

LAVRENTIA DEPO

SITA IN PACE AN

CXLVIII

☧

Translated: Laurentia, rest in peace in the year 148 XP.

St. Laurentia belongs to the martyrs that were transfered in 1722 and 1723 by abbot Dominikus Schwaninger from the catacombs of Rome to Roggenburg.
