About this work

St. John Nepomuk Chapel in Hiddingsel, Dülmen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany The St. John Nepomuk Chapel is located in the Hiddingsel district of the town of Dülmen. The small brick chapel was built in the 19th century and is dedicated to St. John Nepomuk, who is venerated as the patron saint of bridges and water. The simple neo-Gothic style with pointed arched windows and a small ridge turret is typical of the region. Inside is a statue of the saint, who is considered a martyr of the seal of confession. His veneration was particularly widespread in the Catholic areas of Westphalia. For decades, the chapel served as a place of worship, May devotions, and prayers for the village community. To this day, it remains a visible sign of local piety and a building that shapes the identity of Hiddingsel.
