About this work
Still life with freshly picked local strawberries in a crystal bowl on a striped tablecloth in Tuntorp, Brastad, Lysekil Municipality, Sweden. Photographed in natural evening light from a window. The idea was to borrow the light and composition style from old still-life paintings, preferably 17th-century Dutch paintings. Many of those paintings of food depicted it as if the meal was in progress. This was a technique they had to show that is was a painting of a fleeting moment, and that everything in life is transient.
