About this work
Gigantic jet taken with automatic camera at the International Gemini Observatory's Gemini North, at 4,200 metres (13,800 ft) on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The phenomenon was estimated to reach 50 to 90 kilometres (31 to 56 mi) in height.
