What helps us find the problem

  • The film, show or channel, and its page's address if you have it.
  • The date and time you watched, and where in the film or programme the problem was.
  • What went wrong: captions missing, words wrong or left out, captions late or early, captions covering something, or captions that will not turn on.
  • The device, the browser, and any screen reader or other assistive technology you use.
  • What you would like done.
  • How you would like us to answer (email, letter, telephone, TTY or relay), and how to reach you.

The Federal Communications Commission

In the United States you can also send a written complaint about captioning to the Federal Communications Commission, within 60 days of the problem. The FCC's guide to captioning of Internet video says how.

Things you can change yourself

  • Captions on or off: the CC button in the player, or c. Which language or kind of captions: Subtitles in the player's settings menu, where a film or channel has more than one.
  • How captions look (size, colours, font, edges, background and window): Caption style in the player's settings menu, or Settings, which shows a preview. Choose Your device's there to use the caption style set in your device's accessibility settings.
  • Whether captions start on: Default Captions in Settings.

Live channels show captions where the broadcaster's stream carries them. A channel's page says whether its stream carried captions when it was last checked.
