# Kieran Achara - An Athlete's Journey

Free with YouTube's ads, posted by Scottish Volleyball.

It is with great excitement we announce our next part of our #PlayerEducation month in the #SVAonline series. We welcome to our series Scottish and Great Britain Basketball legend Kieran Achara. Kieran has played professionally abroad, played in the London Olympics (where they beat China) for Great Britain and managed to accumulate 105 caps over his GB career. Kieran then went on to captain Scotland at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. Scotland went on to compete in the Bronze Medal match. Since Kieran moved back to Scotland from Europe, he has devoted a lot of his time to developing the next generation of athletes, while also continuing to play for Glasgow Rocks. He is also a youth ambassador with sportscotland, Winning Scotland Foundation, NSPCC and recently became patron founder of Rocks in the Community. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from an International Athlete from a different sport which gives our athletes a different perspective on potential opportunities for them in the future. There will be ample opportunity to ask Kieran questions about his career and his development focus now.
