About the Episode Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, The Red Clay Strays are known for live performances that feel nearly revival-like in their intensity. Rolling Stone hails the Strays “a blistering rock & roll band, one well on its way to revitalizing a certain brand of muscular Southern rock.” They bring a firestorm of songs blending country, rock, gospel and soul to the ACL stage for a mighty series debut. Opening with “Demons In Your Choir,” a spiritual rumination that showcases frontman Brandon Coleman’s knockout vocals, the band performs highlights from their celebrated album Grateful, produced by nine-time GRAMMY Award-winner Dave Cobb. The hard-charging Strays lay down a driving beat throughout, joined by buoyant backup singers on take-you-to-church choruses, and the ensemble thrills with the anthemic “People Hatin’.” The Strays’ also revisit their 2024 sophomore album Made by These Moments for a trio of soul-burners, before bringing the house down with the new album’s scorching title track “Grateful.”
