# 2026 Jazz Scholar Karen Chilton on Hazel Scott

The 2026 Library of Congress Jazz Scholar, Karen Chilton, presents her latest research on the Hazel Scott Collection at the Library of Congress. As Hazel Scott’s official biographer, Chilton builds upon more than two decades of research to offer new insights drawn from the archives. The lecture explores Scott’s extraordinary life and career, tracing her childhood, meteoric rise to stardom, and the years of relative silence that followed. The presentation concludes with a video montage celebrating Hazel Scott’s artistry at the piano.
