# Cary Morin: Sitting on Top of the World

Crow tribal member Cary Morin from northern Colorado performing the song “Sitting on Top of the World” from a field recording of fiddler Wayne Perry made by John A. Lomax in Crowley, Louisiana in 1934. John A. Lomax southern states collection, 1933-1937, AFC 1935/002: AFS 00020 A01. The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress challenged musical artists to interpret material from its unparalleled archive of ethnographic recordings of traditional folk music. Artists were asked to put their own spin on these archival treasures, and to perform them at a special showcase during the Folk Alliance International conference in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2020. The showcase was recorded for this webcast.
