# Changüí Majadero: El Sacrificio

Los Angeles Afro-Cuban roots music group Changüí Majadero performing the song “El Sacrificio” from a recording of Sesteto Encanto at Key West, Florida in 1940. From the Stetson Kennedy and Robert Cook WPA Florida Recordings, AFC 1939/013: AFS 03383 A01. The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress challenged musical artists to interpret material from its unparalleled archive of ethnographic recordings of traditional folk music. Artists were asked to put their own spin on these archival treasures, and to perform them at a special showcase during the Folk Alliance International conference in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2020. The showcase was recorded for this webcast.
