# Phill Nadler oral history interview conducted by Melodie Guerrera, June 29, 2010

Phill has been a chiropractor for 54 years; he retired from his own practice in 2007 and at the time of this interview, he worked three days a week for a practice in Jamaica Estates. He lives in Babylon, NY. At the time of 9/11, his practice was in Queens. Phill was at home the morning of 9/11 getting ready for work when his secretary called to tell him the news. Shortly after, the topic of responding to offer chiropractic help came up at a chiropractic association meeting. Ultimately he and other volunteers were hooked up with the Red Cross to get access to the area. Phill showed his badge on camera. He recalled that people working out of St. Paul's and other areas came from all over the country: "It was a very satisfying experience to see the participation." The chiropractic area was set up in the back of the church, as well as podiatry and other specialties; there was also food on tables and another area upstairs where responders could sleep. Priests were also on hand and church services were held every so often. There were chiropractors scheduled around the clock to serve the responders. He first reported down around late September/early October and spent the next 9 months driving to volunteer on his days off. He was energized by his work down there; fatigue never set in. He felt very appreciated for his help.
