# Signum Quartet

The Signum Quartet's performance of Schubert's "Death and the Maiden" has been called "as boldly imagined as a symphony" (The Times, London). The exciting German ensemble plays Schubert's emotional masterpiece, a robust Haydn quartet, and a striking contemplation on mortality by South African composer Matthijs van Dijk. While the Coolidge Auditorium was undergoing repairs, the Signum Quartet performed at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, just down the road from the Library. Program: \[00:57\] Joseph Haydn: Quartet in D major, op. 20/4, Hob.III:34; \[26:06\] Franz Schubert: Quartet in D minor, "Death and the Maiden," D.810; \[1:12:35\] Franz Schubert / Xandi van Dijk: "Du bist die Ruh," D.776
