# Harry A. Blackmun oral history interview. Session 3

Harry Blackmun begins this interview discussing what is known of his genealogy and then tells the story of how his parents met, their early years as a family, and later, his decision to attend Harvard. Blackmun details how he weighed that decision, how he was concerned about money during that time, and how he was, at times, torn between becoming a mathematician, studying law, or studying medicine. He also discusses jobs he held as a young man and student, his time in the Harvard Glee Club, and his love for baseball and the outdoors.
