# Zappa on Video - Decades of a Musician on Film

It goes without question that Frank Zappa was one of the most important rock musicians of the 20th century. A virtuoso composer, satirical song-maker, prolific multi hyphenate and rock icon, Zappa transformed what rock music could be capable of, and infused the genre with raucous comedy, social commentary and experimental production techniques. But audio wasn’t Zappa’s only means of artistic expression -throughout the 70’s and 80’s, he worked with film almost as much as he did with music. Included are a variety of Zappa’s efforts within the film medium - both by him and about him - such as: Zappa’s own directorial efforts ( 200 Motels, Baby Snakes, Video from Hell, Does Humor Belong in Music?, The Amazing Mr. Bickford , etc.) Full performances and excerpts from many of his concerts ( The Roxy, Capital Theatre, Barcelona, Prague, Stockholm, NYC , etc.) Television interviews and appearances (including his famous appearance in front of the US Senate) Documentaries about Zappa ( Eat That Question, In His Own Words, BBC Late Show Special , etc.) Frank Zappa has always been an influential figure in the realm of rock, but his work with the moving image should not be discounted so easily.
