# The Fallen Idol (1948)

The Fallen Idol is a British mystery thriller film directed by Carol ReedThe film is based on Graham Greene's short story "The Basement Room" and features a cast that includes Ralph Richardson, Bobby Henrey, and Michèle Morgan. The story revolves around Philippe, the young son of a diplomat living in London. He idolizes Baines, the family butler, who entertains him with tales of adventure. When Baines's wife is found murdered, Philippe becomes convinced that Baines is innocent and tries to protect him, inadvertently complicating the investigation.
