# Secondary Flow (1964)

Introduces the idea of secondary flow with the classical teacup experiment. Demonstrates secondary flow in a sink - vortex tank, a bend in an open channel and at the base of a strut in a shear flow. Explains in terms of pressure fields on boundary layers and vorticity conservation theorems. Indicates that on regular exterior views important interior details of an object may often show as a confused mass of dotted lines, and demonstrates that the sectional view is the remedy. Describes various types of sections, including a full section, half-section, revolved section, and auxiliary section, and shows how to construct sectional views.
