# Maintenance Management Systems: Developing Maintenance Standards

International Road Federation Video VH-379F Maintenance Management Systems: Developing Maintenance Standards Visit the International Road Federation at http://www.irfnews.org/ - Noncommercial Use Only - Published with Permission - This video describes how maintenance standards are created and used. Defining a standard as a goal to foster improved crew effectiveness and uniform quality work, the video illustrates three types of standards: quality standards (guidelines indicating under what circumstances work should be done), quantity standards (how much work is necessary to maintain quality), and performance standards. Examples illustrate a proper standard and the way quality, quantity and performance are interrelated. The process of developing standards by committee is discussed in some detail.
