# 1992 VHS 2 pack: The Special Christmas Visit and Frost & The Snowman

A very odd VHS set. Simply labeled as "Christmas 2 Pack: A Special Collection of Animated Christmas Stories". I haven't been able to find a ton of information about the release online officially. a Tumblr user's write up seems to be the bulk of it. Looking online, these all appear to be Public Domain works. Tape 1: The Special Christmas Visit - The Special Christmas Visit (A Soviet Russian Cartoon from 1959 with English Audio but no on screen translation for the Crylic, Original Title is Новогоднее путешествие (New Year's Trip) - A Visitor on Christmas (Actually 2nd segment on tape despite the back of the box, A British Short from 1959) - Merry Christmas Carols (Live Action Christmas Carols with lyrics on screen (although in a hard to read font) by Castle Films, Aprox date 1947) Tape 2: Frosty & The Snowman - Jack Frost (AKA) Frosty (An Ub Iwerks ComiColor Short from 1934 titled Jack Frost) - The Snowman (A trimmed down and colorized? version of The Snowman in July, which seems to be a Translation of a 1944 German short called Der Schneemann) - Enchanted Square (A Raggedy Ann short from 1947 called The Enchanted Square) - Christmas Dream* (A Max Fleischer's Color Classic from 1936 called Somewhere in Dreamland) These were captured off the original VHS using composite into a Dazzle DVC100, using VirtualDub 2 with deinterlacing filters (Yadif doubling the frames) and then saved as an mkv (x264 10 bit - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec) as the inital video file is unnecessarily large…
