# Wilkie Collins' "A Terribly Strange Bed" introduced by a cat

USA. Directed by William Cameron Menzies. Starring Richard Greene. Based on the short story by Wilkie Collins. Plot: A traveler taking lodgings for the night finds himself trapped in a death machine. Even people who didn't like the skinhead videos will have to admit this is my worst upload yet. I've taken it from a cheaply manufactured EP-speed videocassette titled DEVIL'S TALES that runs 30 minutes total and is comprised of two short films: "A Terribly Strange Bed" and " Strange Superstitions ." I purchased it for a dollar from a pile of previously viewed VHS tapes, and when I got around to watching it I discovered that the former owner had recorded a few seconds of his cat over the start, cutting off the beginning of the first film. This TV adaptation of the Collins story filmed for the anthology series Fireside Theatre premiered on June 21, 1949, and originally shared the same half-hour time slot with an adaptation of August Strindberg's play "The Stronger."
