# 1997 VHS • Vita-Mix Quickstart Instructional Video 60 FPS

Hosts Ed and Dawn, who have demonstrated kitchen appliances together for over 20 years, walk through the Vita-Mix blender from machine overview through entertaining recipes. Vita-Mix Corporation was founded in 1921. The video opens with machine components: motor base, two-horsepower motor, calibrated container with patented ridges, two-piece lid, tamper, and variable speed dial numbered 1 through 10 plus high. Ed and Dawn frame everything around the nutritional philosophy that whole foods are better than parts, and that five daily servings of fruits and vegetables reduce health risks. Recipes demonstrated include Boppy Juice (orange, apple with core and peel, banana, pineapple core, honey, ice), carrot juice, tangerine-banana-carrot sorbet, food processing for onions, carrots, meat, and cheese, friction-heat vegetable soup, a strawberry-tofu smoothie, and whole wheat bread using the dry-blade container (grind 90 seconds, knead by tapping, rise 20 to 30 minutes, bake 45 minutes at 350). Additional recipes cover peanut butter, fresh California Salsa, pina colada, and frozen cappuccino.
