# 1993 VHS • Video Guitar Method Vol 1 60 FPS

Herb Hutchinson, owner and operator of Hutchinson Sound of Music in Northfield, New Jersey, leads this beginner guitar course, the first in his Finally the Basics series. The tape opens with guitar parts: nut, frets, bridge, sound hole, and tuning keys. A whiteboard segment introduces the guitar neck diagram, open and closed notes, whole steps and half steps across frets, and the importance of staying near the fret on the fingertip to produce a clean sound. Right-hand technique covers pick grip, arm placement over the body, and driving down and through each string. Left-hand positions are explained using the index finger as the position marker across all twelve frets. Tuning by the fifth-fret method is covered with a recommendation to buy an electronic chromatic tuner. Music theory introduces the G clef, the musical alphabet (A through G), note values (whole, half, quarter), time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 2/4, and common time C), counting with foot tapping, and the four chord types (major, minor, seventh, minor seventh). Four chords are taught by diagram and demonstrated on guitar: C major, A minor, D minor, and G7. The tape closes referencing the companion book Finally the Basics.
