# 2001 VHS • Stott Pilates 60 FPS

Stott Pilates is an intermediate mat workout in the STOTT Pilates system, described as a contemporary approach to Joseph H. Pilates' original method updated with modern principles of core stability, functional fitness, and spinal biomechanics. The program opens with an explanation of the STOTT system's key anatomical principles: neutral pelvis when both feet are on the floor, imprinted spine when both legs are elevated, and the importance of deep abdominal engagement over superficial gripping or hip flexor tightening. The workout is presented as a continuation of the STOTT Essential series, adding exercises not covered at the beginner level and applying extension movements to balance the emphasis on flexion. The mat sequence includes the Hundred, Half Roll Up, Roll Up, Single Leg Stretch, Double Leg Stretch, Rollover Prep, Spine Stretch Forward, Saw, Side Kicks, Teaser Prep, Swan Dive Prep, Swimming Prep, Seal, and Side Bend. Each exercise is demonstrated with precise cueing on breath, spinal position, shoulder stability, and abdominal engagement. The program also includes hip opening and leg rotation exercises for spinal decompression between major sequences. A single mat is the only equipment required. The program runs approximately 63 minutes and is aimed at students who have completed the STOTT Essential level.
