# THE SOUND OF MUSIC trailer

Mega-hit musical drama of the lives of the the von Trapp Family Singers and their escape from Nazi Austria. A star-maker for Julie andrews with excellent production values. However it shouldn't counted on for biographical or historical accuracy. Partially filmed on location in Salzburg, Austria. Added to the National Film Registry in 2001. TRIVIA: The third highest grossing movie of all time, adjusted for inflation. Maria von Trapp was not invited to or allowed to attend its preview. PERSONAL NOTE: My Austrian-born mother was a long-time friend of Maria von Trapp whom she visited several times in her Stowe, Vermont home. Maria passed away in 1987. My mom followed her in 1989. So it's now safe for me to admit I'm among the five people on the planet who didn't much care for "The Sound of Music."
