# Bill Collins Movie Collection - Son Of Lassie (VHS)

S. Sylvan Simon's Son of Lassie is the sequel to Lassie Come Home, already released as part of my Movie Collection through CEL. Written by Jeanne Bartlett, with some characters retained from the film based on Eric Knight's marvelous novel, the screenplay takes us a few years ahead in time to World War II. Ken, Lassie's master, is now grown up and joins the air force. Laddie, Lassie's son, stows away on the on the plane carrying Ken from England to Europe. When the plane is shot down over norway, Laddies parachutes with Ken to the ground and their arduous adventure begins as they are perused by the enemy. Son of Lassie is an exciting movie adventure with truly beautiful colour camerawork around the breathtaking locations representing Norway. The films emotional appeal is intensified by the use of themes composed by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg in the musical score under Herbert Stothart's direction. Peter Lawford plays the grown-up Ken, the character created by Roddy McDowall. Julia Lockhart is Priscilla, remembered as played by Elizabeth Taylor in the first film. Donald Crisp and Nigel Bruce continue the same characters they played before. The cast includes Nils Asther, William "Billy" Severn, Leon Ames, Robert Lewis and Fay Helm. And, naturally, you'll love Lassie and Laddie. -- Bill Collins
