# \[Home Movie: Judith Hammer Collection, circa 1970s, Velva, Grand Forks, Fargo, Niagra Falls, Nixon visit\]

Synopsis A home movie filmed by Judith Hammer on a Brownie 8mm camera. The film largely shows life around the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, and presumably Velva, Hammer's hometown. The film also features former President Nixon's visit to Fargo, North Dakota on July 24, 1970, and features some anti-war protests beforehand and during Nixon's time there. Later, Hammer films a trip to presumably Toronto, Canada, and Niagara Falls. Collection Description This film (Hammer_0004) is part of the College Days Capers: Collegiate Experiences & Capers at UND During "The Revolution" of the Late 60s & Early 70s Collection. College Days Capers captures the filmmaker Judith Hammer's young adulthood while she attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks in the late 60s and early 70s, or the Counter Culture era. She describes herself as being the "sporadic cinematographer within \[her\] peer group" and credits foreign films shown in the Student Union and exposure to social movements, cultural offerings, and her peers at college as her inspiration. Hammer largely captured live action and people in motion, very little of the collection is scenery. Her primary subjects were her friends, both in their everyday life and on an East Coast trip together, and family in their daily lives. The collection also contains some minutes-long footage of President Nixon's visit to Fargo, North Dakota on July 24, 1970, and crowd reactions. This collection was conserved and digitally…

Not offered: what its record states (its uploader's public-domain mark, or a licence not shown to be its rights holder's) leaves its US term to decide, and it is dated 1970; under US law a work of that year is free only on facts the site does not hold for it (its US renewal records, or its own country's term on 1 January 1996 for a work published abroad), and otherwise its US term runs to the end of 2065. Unclear is not offered.
