# 275 Capp St Stephen Parr Tribute Video

This tribute video was made for the late Stephen Parr (1953-2017), founder of the Oddball Film Archives in San Francisco, California, by Oddball researcher Adam Dziesinski. Stephen had amassed some 50,000 reels of film and was one of the most prominent --- and loved --- archivists in the world. An obituary written by Laura Wenus in "Mission Life" quotes archivist Rick Prelinger: “Archives tend to be really closed places, behind closed doors, mysterious and to serve some people and not others. Stephen’s archive was very hospitable. Tons of people came through Capp Street as interns, volunteers, people who worked for his nonprofit, the SF Media Archive.” About his own work, Parr noted: “I’m screening memories. I’m screening history. I’m memorializing it to a certain extent, reinvigorating it, giving it a new take, recontextualizing it, remixing it.” He will be deeply missed by the archival community as well as thousands of others whose lives he touched. Dziesinski's film epitomizes Stephen's brilliance, unconventional nature, and overall craziness. He would have loved the film.
