# CHARLES LINDBERGH NEWSREELS TRANS-ATLANTIC FLIGHT 23534

Made for sale to the home market in the late 1920s, these silent newsreels show Charles LIndbergh preparing to leave on his epic Trans-Atlantic flight in 1927. The film includes good luck greetings from Lindy's mother and even his rival, Commander Byrd. At the 4:30 mark, a second newsreel shows Lindy returning to the United States aboard the cruiser USS Memphis, with his aircraft in a box on the deck. The Memphis arrives at the Washington Navy Yard, and Lindy is greeted by his mother and whisked away to a meeting with President Calvin Coolidge (9:55). We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting?
