# Combating Antibiotic Resistance- Vaccines, Therapeutics and Diagnostics

Vaccines can reduce antibiotic use by preventing infections. Diagnostic tools can improve diagnosis accuracy and speed, plus help identify spread when transmission occurs. New antibiotic drugs and microbiome therapies can help improve patient treatment and outcomes. But current innovations for antibiotic resistance are not enough. To save lives and combat antibiotic resistance, there must be improved access to existing and new vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics; support for vaccine development to prevent infections; development of new drugs and therapeutics that can combat antibiotic resistance; investment in diagnostic and detection solutions to identify threats and help stop spread; and continued research to better understand the microbiome and treatment options.
