# Stepping Up- Kevin’s Decision (Part 1)

Transition from pediatric to adult care can be a challenging time for people with sickle cell disease (SCD) because their health often gets worse during this time. People with SCD should be prepared to take on more responsibility for their health and health care during transition if their disease allows.
