# Roe deer in England

A male European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) at Forest How, Lake Eskdale, Cumberland, England, United Kingdom.

5th June 2016. The male and female were both grazing in the paddock, as I approached. They heard me before I saw them, and they headed for cover. Meanwhile, I managed to hide behind some vegetation, near a wall. The female jumped into the bracken, and the male, unable to see me, finally followed her. A 'domestic' between two Eurasian jays (Garrulus glandarius) made so much noise that the male jumped back into the paddock. Here, he is looking to see where the female had gone. I left him in the paddock, as I could hear a squirrel calling along the nearby fellside.

In this video, the original material has been stabilised.
