# Wilson's disease

What is Wilson's disease (Wilson disease)? You usually take in more copper than your body needs every day, and any excess is excreted. With Wilson's disease, a genetic defect affecting the ATP7B transport protein causes copper to accumulate in the body and damage various tissues and organs. This video covers the pathophysiology of Wilson's disease, as well as common signs and symptoms, complications, and treatments.
