# Nocturnal Penile Tumescence

Real-time demonstration of the process of spontaneous nocturnal penile tumescence. The subject is a 27-year-old healthy circumcised Caucasian male who is asleep during the video. At the beginning of the video, his penis is flaccid; during the process of tumescence, it becomes erect. According to the Wikipedia page on NPT, "All men without physiological erectile dysfunction experience nocturnal penile tumescence, usually three to five times during the night, typically during REM sleep. NPTs are believed to contribute to penile health." The tumescence process in this video can be compared with the subject's normal erection process while awake.
