# Spacewalk 101 (jsc2026m000932)

NASA flight director Mike Lammers provides an overview of spacewalks, also known as extravehicular activities. A spacewalk is any excursion outside a spacecraft. Aboard the International Space Station, astronauts perform spacewalks wearing the Extravehicular Mobility Unit, or spacesuit, to complete maintenance and upgrade activities. Astronauts often train for spacewalks at NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston.
