# Lindsay Clancy's Mom Reads Texts From Daughter Asking For Help On Day 14 Of Murder Trial

Lindsay Clancy’s mother took the stand in her daughter's murder trial Monday, describing a disturbing warning from her daughter a month before Clancy killed her three children.

Paula Musgrove testified that Lindsay approached her and then-husband Patrick Clancy in December 2022 and told them "she had thoughts of harming the children." Patrick previously testified that Lindsay said at the time that she had no plan to hurt them.

Musgrove was one of the first witnesses called by Clancy's defense team; prosecutors rested their case early Monday after calling about 70 witnesses to the stand.

Musgrove read text messages that Lindsay sent her in October 2022, asking her to come stay with her. She wrote that she was “really sick” and did not want to be alone.

She shared that Lindsay once asked to sleep in her bed because she was afraid to be alone and believed the psychiatric medications she was taking were “destroying her mind.”

Clancy's attorneys do not dispute that Clancy killed Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in January 2023. The question for jurors is whether she was criminally responsible. The defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and severe mental illness; prosecutors say the killings were planned and deliberate.

On cross-examination, prosecutors pointed to texts in the weeks before the killings suggesting Clancy had begun feeling better. Musgrove also acknowledged she had not believed the children were in danger.
