# Ed Wynn Show

Heard 1932–1945. 11 episodes.

Ed Wynn hosted a popular radio show for most of the 1930s, heard in North America on Tuesday nights, sponsored by Texaco gasoline. He was often seen wearing a fireman's helmet, as the "Texaco Fire Chief". During this time, Wynn was offered the part of The Wizard in MGM's adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, but he turned down the role. The part later went to Frank Morgan. Wynn founded his own short-lived radio network, the Amalgamated Broadcasting System, which lasted only five weeks in 1933. Wynn always worked "clean," making his shows suitable for the entire family. From the Old Time Radio collection at the Internet Archive, uploaded by the collector named.

Nothing here is called public domain on this site's say-so. In the United States, sound recordings first fixed before 15 February 1972 have federal protection under the Music Modernization Act of 2018, for most until 2067 at the latest, so most American radio of the 1930s to the 1950s is not in the public domain there. Each set shows the licence, mark or statement its archive gives, and says whose it is.
