# Weird Story Magazine (Aug 1940)

WEIRD STORY MAGAZINE (Aug 1940) from British publisher Gerald G. Swan. This was apparently based on WEIRD TALES, and although the ads mention a second issue it never came out, making this effectively a one-shot; Swan revisited the title in 1946 with another pulp of the same name. This was published two years before Swan's three-issue WEIRD TALES reprints for the UK market. Contents: Table of Contents, 1 "Doctor Doom, Ghost Detective" by William J. Elliott, 2-43 "A Witch's Charm Against Witchcraft" (uncredited), 43 "The Village in the Mist" by Basil Herbert, 44-52 "The Chained Terror" by Henry Retlaw, 53-60 "Description of a Warlock" (uncredited), 60 "Dene Vernon, Ghost Investigator" (comic, uncredited), 61-66 "The Dead Hand Grips" by James Bruce, 67-82 "The Last Word" by W. E. Tillot, 83-89 "Witch's Lullaby" (poem) by W.J.E., 89 "In An Old Graveyard" (poem) by W.E., 89 Excerpt from "The Last Man in the World!" by E. Bruce, & ad for WEIRD STORY MAGAZINE #2, 90-91 "So This Is Death" by J. Leopold Wollet, 92-95 "The Were Wolf" (poem) by E. L. Lowitt, 95 "Weird Story in Brief" by L. T. J. Wilte, 96 As seems to be common with Swan's magazines, no editor listed or editorial included.
