# The New Republic: A Journal of Opinion (August 4, 1920); plus "A Test of the News" by Walter Lippmann & Charles Merz

A single issue, from a library-bound volume, of The New Republic: A Journal of Opinion from August 4, 1920 (Volume 23, Number 296). Appended (and bound adjacent, with the same date) is the essay "A Test of the News" by Walter Lippmann and Charles Merz, probably printed as a supplement to the issue. Some of the gutters in the center of this bound volume are tight, and there may be some OCR errors as the perspective interferes. There is also a band of bright stuck pixels from a glitch in my A300 scanner, which I am not always able to crop out in these very tight gutters. Scanned at 600dpi, 24-bit color, algorithmically deskewed and then manually cropped. As always, I have not provided OCR text; that has been generated automatically by the upload server. My goal with these scans is to provide sufficiently clean pages for manual proofreading of OCRed pages by human folks.
