[0:01] Speaker 1: Hey everybody, Dando here and welcome to this very special
[0:04] Speaker 1: sneak peek at our Patreon exclusive review of season eleven's
[0:08] Speaker 1: eight Misbehavior. Now, if you listen to this, you'll be wondering,
[0:11] Speaker 1: where's Guy. Well, there is no Guy in this review. No,
[0:13] Speaker 1: it is reviewed by myself and my original co host, Mitch. Now,
[0:17] Speaker 1: if you're a supporter of ours on Patreon, you would
[0:19] Speaker 1: already be well aware that Mitch has rejoined the show
[0:22] Speaker 1: after six long years, and every single month we review
[0:25] Speaker 1: two season eleven episodes of the show exclusively for our
[0:28] Speaker 1: supporters on Patreon. So Mitch was my co host for
[0:30] Speaker 1: the first ten seasons of four Finger Discount. He took
[0:33] Speaker 1: a break, and now we are kicking off where we
[0:35] Speaker 1: left off. So we started at the beginning of season
[0:37] Speaker 1: eleven and we're working our way through the teen era
[0:40] Speaker 1: of the show, which for the most part, Mitch has
[0:42] Speaker 1: never seen. So it's a lot of fun. But it's
[0:44] Speaker 1: just fun to catch up and talk about dad life
[0:46] Speaker 1: because Mitch is now a dad as well, and it's
[0:48] Speaker 1: just good for a good old fashioned Mitch and Dando
[0:50] Speaker 1: catch up each and every month. So each month our
[0:53] Speaker 1: Patreon supporters get access to two exclusive season eleven reviews
[0:57] Speaker 1: featuring Mitch and Dando and his little sneak peak at
[1:00] Speaker 1: our recent review of eight Misbehaven. Hope you guys enjoy this,
[1:03] Speaker 1: and if you do, in fact enjoy it, think about
[1:05] Speaker 1: maybe supporting the show on Patreon for getting access to
[1:08] Speaker 1: every single episode featuring mich and Dana. But for now,
[1:11] Speaker 1: enjoy our review of eight Misbehaven.
[1:14] Speaker 2: Are you sure you want the child a Pooh?
[1:16] Speaker 1: You're not? I dou?
[1:17] Speaker 3: I mean there comes a damon a man's life when
[1:19] Speaker 3: he asks himself, who would flood my corpse down the Ganges?
[1:23] Speaker 1: Oh pooh, take me now?
[1:26] Speaker 2: Or cacta fourfinger Discount dude.
[1:45] Speaker 1: Welcome to four Finger Discount, the podcast where we always
[1:48] Speaker 1: appreciate a good banana bread and Dando, I am Mitch.
[1:51] Speaker 3: Would you like nuts in your banana breada or you were?
[1:54] Speaker 3: Well maybe not in this house? Yeah, a riot to Nicolai.
[1:57] Speaker 1: Will never been a nut man. I've never liked peans,
[2:00] Speaker 1: never liked the smell of them. Look any form of nuts,
[2:03] Speaker 1: Tala Teler of the Kid weird right, no texture in
[2:05] Speaker 1: your banana bread?
[2:06] Speaker 3: Then you with like just a soft, smooth, toasted.
[2:09] Speaker 1: Or fresh I had never eaten banana bread before I
[2:11] Speaker 1: met Nikola. She opened up me to a whole new
[2:14] Speaker 1: world of food. Yeah. I never tried Indian food. I've
[2:16] Speaker 1: never tried Thai food. I just never. I was just
[2:18] Speaker 1: my mum made sausage and vegetables growing up. You know
[2:21] Speaker 1: what I mean, the heat and be meat and bedge.
[2:25] Speaker 3: I put it to you that not much smells better
[2:27] Speaker 3: than banana bread baking in the house. I think I
[2:29] Speaker 3: was gonna say cinnamon scroll Maybe what's better than the
[2:32] Speaker 3: smell of a taste? I mean, nicola makes What I
[2:34] Speaker 3: like about banana bread is nicola makes it healthy as well.
[2:37] Speaker 3: And sometimes you got to spoil yourself with with your treats.
[2:39] Speaker 1: And but I like eating it knowing this is better
[2:43] Speaker 1: for me than normal banana bread.
[2:44] Speaker 3: You know that it's something that like I've done a
[2:47] Speaker 3: few healthy banana breads.
[2:48] Speaker 1: You don't want to feed your kid too much sugar.
[2:50] Speaker 3: But then a few weeks back, I was like, you
[2:52] Speaker 3: know what, fuck it, I'm just gonna like I am
[2:56] Speaker 3: throwing everything in this and I don't care and enjoy it.
[2:59] Speaker 3: And it was the soft, juiciest most And I was
[3:02] Speaker 3: just like, oh, that's the secret. Like if you if
[3:04] Speaker 3: you're eating, if you want to know if the banana
[3:05] Speaker 3: bread is good for you're bad for you. If it
[3:08] Speaker 3: kind of feels closer to cardboard, it's healthy. Yeah, if
[3:11] Speaker 3: it feels in any way soft, fifty grams a sugar person,
[3:15] Speaker 3: that's the secret. Because I was making a rap the
[3:17] Speaker 3: other day, right, chicken rap, not hip hop album, No
[3:21] Speaker 3: No No, I wish and our friend Big Brigsy whole
[3:26] Speaker 3: gray must I had whole gray mustard or I had
[3:29] Speaker 3: garlic aoli and I was like, whole.
[3:31] Speaker 1: Grad mustard is good for the waist mustard. And this
[3:35] Speaker 1: voice in my head was like, just do it, just
[3:38] Speaker 1: just do the Ali. And I was like, we're going
[3:41] Speaker 1: to make something. I want to enjoy it. It's just Ali. Yeah,
[3:44] Speaker 1: And I had the Ali, loved it. Yeah. Good. Sometimes
[3:47] Speaker 1: just going to be a sandwich you were mentioning earlier
[3:52] Speaker 1: when you last a couple episodes ago. You make taco
[3:55] Speaker 1: sometimes and the light sour cream is like, not light,
[3:58] Speaker 1: it's going to do it? Just make sure. Yeah, light
[4:00] Speaker 1: cheese fuck that. Yeah, we always get we get light cheese. Yeah,
[4:03] Speaker 1: and it's sort of a bit that much lighter. It's
[4:04] Speaker 1: like maybe two grams less fats just go full. Yeah,
[4:08] Speaker 1: an old manager of mind that always drank light milk.
[4:11] Speaker 1: What are you doing yourself, Matty? Not saving anything? It
[4:14] Speaker 1: just enjoys it.
[4:14] Speaker 3: I was like, I was holding up nutrition labels and
[4:17] Speaker 3: are you sacrificing the flavor so much for like the
[4:20] Speaker 3: ten percent.
[4:21] Speaker 1: Don't go by the serving sizes, go by the per
[4:23] Speaker 1: hundred mil That's where the real comparisons are much better.
[4:26] Speaker 1: But this episode here, it's about a Pooh and Andula
[4:29] Speaker 1: finally getting a child, well eight of them. It's an
[4:31] Speaker 1: episode that's very bizarre by the end. But I thought
[4:34] Speaker 1: everything leading up to the wacky end was really fun
[4:37] Speaker 1: and enjoyable.
[4:38] Speaker 3: Wacky end was grim, I'll be honest, and I feel
[4:41] Speaker 3: like that is not a fair judgment of the episode.
[4:44] Speaker 3: It's more because, in a similar way to idiocracy, when
[4:49] Speaker 3: society has pushed yourself so far that you look back
[4:51] Speaker 3: at satire from twenty years ago, and I was watching it,
[4:54] Speaker 3: I was like, it actually just doesn't feel all that
[4:56] Speaker 3: far fetched, And as a result, I feel sad for
[4:59] Speaker 3: these babies.
[5:00] Speaker 1: They're not laughing at the idea of them. I feel
[5:02] Speaker 1: like if someone had topless now, we'd get a reality
[5:05] Speaker 1: show about it.
[5:05] Speaker 3: While they already was there. It's not the one with showed,
[5:08] Speaker 3: was it. I'm sure that was the crazy thing? Is
[5:11] Speaker 3: I believe it? It doesn't seem unrealistic? Yeah, yeah. We
[5:15] Speaker 3: watch Have You Been Paying Attentions?
[5:16] Speaker 1: The only show we watch on free to air TV, right,
[5:18] Speaker 1: and we see a lot of ads for reality shows
[5:22] Speaker 1: and I'm watching this, going why is this person getting
[5:24] Speaker 1: their own reality show? Who is this person? It's like,
[5:26] Speaker 1: you know, some hillbilly guy in the States has got
[5:29] Speaker 1: his dating two sisters are his two different wives, And
[5:31] Speaker 1: I'm like, why is this now a television show?
[5:34] Speaker 3: Not to make a joke or make light of a
[5:36] Speaker 3: bad situation, but the most recent reality show thing that
[5:40] Speaker 3: was that I saw was that from Maps I think
[5:43] Speaker 3: it was UK Maps.
[5:44] Speaker 1: A couple of.
[5:45] Speaker 3: Contestants alleged alleged sexual assault and I think as far
[5:50] Speaker 3: as to say it.
[5:51] Speaker 1: Was one of them was raped.
[5:52] Speaker 3: Well on reality show, on the show and it's just
[5:56] Speaker 3: always the ones you most suspect. Well, this here, I thought,
[6:02] Speaker 3: the overall story of a Pooh and Mandela struggle to
[6:05] Speaker 3: get pregnant, then deal with the task of parenthood despite
[6:08] Speaker 3: the fact this is everything they wanted. Then the realization
[6:12] Speaker 3: of Oh, this is hard, because parenthood is hard. It
[6:14] Speaker 3: has its challenges, but you do it because you love
[6:17] Speaker 3: it and that's what you've wanted. I thought it was
[6:18] Speaker 3: just very relatable for people who have, particularly prison.
[6:21] Speaker 1: Yes if you don't those who have who have now
[6:25] Speaker 1: had a child, I thought they really I thought who
[6:27] Speaker 1: wrote this episode. I think it was Matt Salmon. I mean,
[6:29] Speaker 1: Matt Salmon did a really good job of just capturing
[6:31] Speaker 1: that the pressure and stress of parenthood because you love
[6:35] Speaker 1: your kids are death. But it's just like, oh I
[6:37] Speaker 1: need a break.
[6:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple of days in and I mean, imagine
[6:39] Speaker 3: eight of.
[6:39] Speaker 1: Them, That's what I say. It was hard enough with one.
[6:41] Speaker 1: Let me obviously had that second, but eight on your
[6:44] Speaker 1: first go around.
[6:45] Speaker 3: Ash had a really good friend had triplets and I
[6:48] Speaker 3: saw them for the first ones that went from not
[6:51] Speaker 3: having had kids to having three of them, and I
[6:52] Speaker 3: saw them a couple of weeks later. And you've never
[6:55] Speaker 3: seen a more tired pair of people in my life.
[6:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not just mentally, it's physically as well. Everything
[6:59] Speaker 1: about actually change it.
[7:00] Speaker 3: You think, like, I mean, it's not war, obviously think
[7:03] Speaker 3: but now no one knows that I'm making this as
[7:05] Speaker 3: a serious comparison, But you think about the idea of
[7:08] Speaker 3: someone fighting in the somme and there's just like fucking
[7:11] Speaker 3: shelling after shelling after shelling, and you're not getting any sleep,
[7:14] Speaker 3: and like, that's the closest comparison that I can imagine.
[7:18] Speaker 3: And even just with one, it was that like those
[7:20] Speaker 3: first two weeks, you know, you hit a tiredness that
[7:23] Speaker 3: you didn't know existed, where it's just like, I'm les
[7:27] Speaker 3: never slept for more than like three hours. Sorry through
[7:31] Speaker 3: the at nighttime it was never more than three and
[7:34] Speaker 3: in the day it was never more than like forty
[7:35] Speaker 3: five minutes to an hour. So every forty every every
[7:40] Speaker 3: three hour cycle would begin with like wake up, have
[7:43] Speaker 3: a feed, but whatever, have a little bit of a play,
[7:47] Speaker 3: go to sleep. Then within that forty five minute period,
[7:51] Speaker 3: it's like I have to clean everything. I've got to
[7:53] Speaker 3: clean the towels that we just use for all of this.
[7:54] Speaker 3: I've got to make sure that we've got There was
[7:58] Speaker 3: breastfeeding and bottle feeding was like make sure that all
[7:59] Speaker 3: that stuff is fine, and we've cleaned the bottles and
[8:01] Speaker 3: everything's gone, and you'd be seventy percent of the way
[8:04] Speaker 3: through that and then she'd wake back up, and it
[8:06] Speaker 3: was and it's just that for like two straight weeks.
[8:09] Speaker 1: Two weeks. Holly didn't sleep for an entire two years.
[8:12] Speaker 3: Did you guys have to go sleep school?
[8:14] Speaker 1: Did you? Oh? No, you just Holly? She had when
[8:19] Speaker 1: they throw up in their mouth talking to me syndrome. No, no,
[8:25] Speaker 1: they throw up in their throat and it causes like, no,
[8:28] Speaker 1: that burning sensation in your throat when you're thrown up.
[8:30] Speaker 1: So she hasn't actually thrown up silent reflex because she's
[8:34] Speaker 1: not actually throwing up, it's just sort of burning her throat.
[8:37] Speaker 1: So she just cried and cried and cried, and it
[8:41] Speaker 1: was it was just after two full years she slept
[8:43] Speaker 1: the full night. Yeah, okay, Yeah.
[8:46] Speaker 3: Was she diagnosed for that or was it an unknown?
[8:48] Speaker 1: Okay? So you knew and still just couldn't count even
[8:51] Speaker 1: do it? You can't, you can't. There's no cure for
[8:52] Speaker 1: silent reflex. They just outgrow it. The doctors would just
[8:54] Speaker 1: say grow it, like grow it easy for you to say, doctor,
[8:57] Speaker 1: Oh no, it's like yeah, but when it's like every
[9:00] Speaker 1: I was different and I'm like that doesn't help me
[9:02] Speaker 1: because that's for us. It was knowing or not knowing
[9:06] Speaker 1: when is this going to end. It will end at
[9:08] Speaker 1: some point. But when and we met someone once at
[9:11] Speaker 1: like this like group thing, she was like, my child's form,
[9:13] Speaker 1: she's still doing it and like that broke Nikola, like
[9:17] Speaker 1: it broke me. Like Nikola was just when I saw
[9:20] Speaker 1: I wasn't too bad. But when I saw that it
[9:21] Speaker 1: broke Nicola. I'm like, if Nicholas broken, unbroken, like Nicholas
[9:24] Speaker 1: stronger than I am mentally. And when I saw that
[9:26] Speaker 1: she was just broken, I'm like, yeah, I'm done. That's rough.
[9:29] Speaker 3: Were like, that's what We only have one child now, Yeah,
[9:31] Speaker 3: and you're better for it. And it's nice that I've
[9:34] Speaker 3: got somewhere to sleep if I too after recording.
[9:36] Speaker 1: Ye, but yeah, I just thought there's particular scenes in
[9:40] Speaker 1: this that really captured the vibe of parenthood. You're just
[9:44] Speaker 1: touching on the when they wake up in the night
[9:46] Speaker 1: and whatnot when a pooh, it's the times and he's
[9:48] Speaker 1: just fallen asleep with them. Have you had you done that?
[9:50] Speaker 1: There was a couple of times where I just fell
[9:51] Speaker 1: asleep next to the I woke up next to the
[9:53] Speaker 1: cot not realizing that I've fallen asleep. Ah.
[9:55] Speaker 3: Yeah, only one time comes to mind, and kind of shamefully,
[10:00] Speaker 3: it was an accident. I'd actually we were on holidays
[10:02] Speaker 3: and I'd had a few drinks and I came back.
[10:05] Speaker 3: I went out with mates while ash was in the hotel,
[10:07] Speaker 3: and I came back and Lex was crying. And I
[10:08] Speaker 3: could tell with mates after she was born, no, no,
[10:12] Speaker 3: not after she was born. She would have been about one.
[10:16] Speaker 3: She was not quite one at this age. But I
[10:19] Speaker 3: came back and could tell from the look on Ashal faces,
[10:21] Speaker 3: like all this has been going on a while, and
[10:23] Speaker 3: as much as all I want to do right now
[10:24] Speaker 3: is crawl into bed, I've got to relieve.
[10:27] Speaker 1: The I've been having fun and she's been here doing this, yeah,
[10:31] Speaker 1: and that.
[10:31] Speaker 3: The only way I could get her to stop crying
[10:33] Speaker 3: was to sit her on my chest and sort of
[10:35] Speaker 3: lay back myself. And then I fell asleep and woke up.
[10:37] Speaker 3: And just because of how small she was and the
[10:39] Speaker 3: fact that I was not sober at the time, I
[10:42] Speaker 3: did really hate myself for that one, to be honest,
[10:45] Speaker 3: I was like, that wasn't not cool. You feel jealous
[10:49] Speaker 3: for doing things for yourself? Yeah, I mean, but you
[10:53] Speaker 3: feel feel guilty, feel guilty, You feel guilty yeah, you
[10:56] Speaker 3: feel you feel I knew what she meant it, but like,
[10:57] Speaker 3: that's that's the deal. You just from that, I was like,
[11:01] Speaker 3: I'll never get drunk again if there's a chance that
[11:03] Speaker 3: I have to be looking after it, because it's not
[11:04] Speaker 3: worth with that.
[11:06] Speaker 1: Beyond that, though, I typically go back to the like
[11:10] Speaker 1: really young.
[11:10] Speaker 3: If she was having a hard time sleeping. I liked
[11:14] Speaker 3: being awake for those moments because I knew that it
[11:17] Speaker 3: would pass pretty quickly and she would only be that
[11:18] Speaker 3: small for such a small time thing. Yeah, so I
[11:22] Speaker 3: would listen to audiobooks or watch a movie on an
[11:24] Speaker 3: iPad and like I'd set up a little thought of
[11:27] Speaker 3: mattresses or dooms or whatever.
[11:29] Speaker 1: Pillows whatever.
[11:30] Speaker 3: I had to keep the light away from her eyes,
[11:32] Speaker 3: so it'd be like she'd be on my left shoulder
[11:34] Speaker 3: and I'll just be around the corner there watching Star Wars.
[11:39] Speaker 3: But yeah, so that was kind of how I rolled.
[11:41] Speaker 3: I was like, what, I had five weeks off, which
[11:45] Speaker 3: helped with some manual even parental leave. So I was
[11:49] Speaker 3: in that state where I was like, whatever, I'll just
[11:51] Speaker 3: be tired in the day. I want to take these
[11:53] Speaker 3: moments and let Ash have asleep.
[11:54] Speaker 1: That's for me. Obviously, podcasting is my job. Now. I
[11:57] Speaker 1: could go out and get an office job somewhere whatever,
[11:59] Speaker 1: But I just like they're any little once. Yeah, and
[12:02] Speaker 1: I've got so much time out. I pick them u
[12:03] Speaker 1: from school every day. I take them to schoolvery day.
[12:05] Speaker 1: I kick the footy with Elliott for an hour after
[12:06] Speaker 1: school at his school, play with Holly on the monkey
[12:08] Speaker 1: bars and whatnot. I won't get to do this forever. Yeah,
[12:11] Speaker 1: so I'm just gonna take this chance now, enjoy these moments,
[12:14] Speaker 1: and I think our relationship be better for it. In
[12:16] Speaker 1: the future, of course it will be. Yeah, amazing. But
[12:20] Speaker 1: Homer and Margin this episode, I thought they were used
[12:22] Speaker 1: pretty well. I thought, you know, they they kind of
[12:25] Speaker 1: become the default of poor Mandula couple's friends. Yeah, yep.
[12:29] Speaker 1: Never really seen a poor manjol hanging out with anybody
[12:31] Speaker 1: else but the Simpsons. Ye, and Homa was there for
[12:34] Speaker 1: them in the earlier stage of trying to get them
[12:37] Speaker 1: help pregnant, help save the babies in the end as well,
[12:39] Speaker 1: and Marge was just there making her banana butter as well. Yeah.
[12:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, like Marge largely, I think she was written and
[12:45] Speaker 3: performed really well in this, Like it felt pretty true
[12:47] Speaker 3: to life of of a mother, like an experienced mother
[12:51] Speaker 3: helping an expectant and then ultimately new mother through that process.
[12:55] Speaker 1: Trying to yeah, give her advice and whatnot, because when
[12:57] Speaker 1: you're a first parent, you don't take advice. I remember
[13:00] Speaker 1: my parents give me advice and I'm like, you don't
[13:01] Speaker 1: know what you're talking about, old lady. I know what
[13:04] Speaker 1: I'm doing, Mum. Just leave it to me, Give me
[13:07] Speaker 1: the ball and I'll do the rest.
[13:08] Speaker 3: Yeah, myself in trouble if I talk too much about
[13:12] Speaker 3: I was like, take it from everywhere, but I could
[13:15] Speaker 3: also take it with a grain of salt, whereas Ash
[13:17] Speaker 3: would take it to heart a little bit more.
[13:18] Speaker 1: How'd you guys take it? When someone was telling you
[13:20] Speaker 1: weren't doing it right, I.
[13:23] Speaker 3: Wouldn't shoot back at them again. For me, it was
[13:25] Speaker 3: more about defending Ash. So Ash would question herself and
[13:29] Speaker 3: then I would be like, fuck that. The only thing
[13:32] Speaker 3: that matters is lex and the thing you said before,
[13:35] Speaker 3: All kids are different. So I was always able to
[13:38] Speaker 3: be like, Okay, yes there's advice, and there's a spectrum
[13:41] Speaker 3: and all those sorts of things, like we had a
[13:43] Speaker 3: maternal health nurse say you shouldn't pat them on the
[13:46] Speaker 3: bum when you're trying to settle them, because it can
[13:49] Speaker 3: disrupt some kids. And I was like, great, except when
[13:53] Speaker 3: I do it, it works, and I think she's like
[13:56] Speaker 3: so it was just that it was like, well, I'll
[13:57] Speaker 3: be led by her more so than what a textbook
[14:01] Speaker 3: or what someone else's experience would be. Try it, sure,
[14:05] Speaker 3: but if it doesn't work, it's all right.
[14:06] Speaker 1: Cool.
[14:06] Speaker 3: I'm not going to try to make my kid fit
[14:08] Speaker 3: that box. It's more go in the direction that is
[14:11] Speaker 3: working for the kid.
[14:12] Speaker 1: We changed health nurses. Yeah, have three different ones. The
[14:15] Speaker 1: first one was always The first one was just like
[14:17] Speaker 1: this is how you do it and you can't do
[14:19] Speaker 1: it any other way. The second one was just sort
[14:22] Speaker 1: of I could tell she was judging us for this
[14:24] Speaker 1: and the other. So we went to the third one.
[14:25] Speaker 1: The third one was like, what have you guys been doing?
[14:28] Speaker 1: And we sort of explained things and they're like what
[14:30] Speaker 1: works the best, this option, this option. She's like, just
[14:34] Speaker 1: do more of that. She's like, all kids are different.
[14:37] Speaker 1: You do what works for you guys, and for your kid.
[14:39] Speaker 1: I'm like that's what we needed to hear, Like, you're
[14:41] Speaker 1: not doing it wrong, you just need to do it
[14:43] Speaker 1: your way.
[14:44] Speaker 3: Granted, there are some things that are definitely wrong.
[14:47] Speaker 1: Pillows not on the top of the face. Yeah, yeah,
[14:49] Speaker 1: wrap them up in winter. I feed them three times
[14:52] Speaker 1: a day.
[14:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, a few basics that I think we can all
[14:54] Speaker 3: get behind this. But then the other little things like,
[14:58] Speaker 3: you know, some kids are going to like a night
[14:59] Speaker 3: light on in the room or white noise. Some kids
[15:01] Speaker 3: are going to want a dark room in silence. Some
[15:03] Speaker 3: kids like to be swaddled, some kids like to be
[15:04] Speaker 3: in you know. The stupidest, simplest one for us was
[15:10] Speaker 3: changing to sleepsuit. Like Lex hated being wrapped up as
[15:13] Speaker 3: a kid, so like if her arms were tucked in,
[15:15] Speaker 3: she was awful. Then we got the saffish things. Yeah,
[15:18] Speaker 3: the Staffish sleepsuit was golden for ages, and that was
[15:22] Speaker 3: one of those things of like, oh no one said
[15:24] Speaker 3: we could do that.
[15:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I thought we were supposed to do that. Yeah, yeah,
[15:27] Speaker 1: I thought they liked being snug.
[15:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly that, or even just like even if
[15:32] Speaker 3: we didn't have one of those, like just let her
[15:34] Speaker 3: have her arms here and she was fine.
[15:36] Speaker 1: I think Holly was exactly the same. Yeah, she still
[15:39] Speaker 1: woke up, but would fall asleep better. My favorite favorite
[15:43] Speaker 1: moments for me. I didn't want to spoil this in
[15:45] Speaker 1: the intro, but can we talk about the banana bread scene? Yes,
[15:48] Speaker 1: we go. This is one of the funny Simpson scenes
[15:50] Speaker 1: thin in a while. Yeah, I think because I'm a
[15:51] Speaker 1: parent and I've lived through people bringing food over and
[15:53] Speaker 1: I'm like, how is this going to help me? But
[15:58] Speaker 1: problems aside, but the way I pooh, because this is
[16:01] Speaker 1: what this is what you go through when you're a
[16:02] Speaker 1: new parent. It's the I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm just emotional,
[16:06] Speaker 1: but not a bread I'm sorry bread.
[16:12] Speaker 3: I still I mean, I think you still carry it's
[16:14] Speaker 3: it's more heightened them, but you carry it through now. Right,
[16:17] Speaker 3: Like my dad, we both work ash and I both
[16:20] Speaker 3: work full time likes in kinder Monday to Friday from
[16:22] Speaker 3: like eight thirty issues.
[16:24] Speaker 1: About five o'clock.
[16:26] Speaker 3: It's largely all she's ever known, so it's not a
[16:28] Speaker 3: huge deal and she does well, but we feel that
[16:32] Speaker 3: guilt as well about not being able to have the
[16:34] Speaker 3: exact sort of time you were talking about. And Dad
[16:38] Speaker 3: was calling mix he wants to take her to the
[16:40] Speaker 3: zoo and got a Zoom membership. I was like, yeah,
[16:42] Speaker 3: that sounds great. And wanted to leave the conversation there
[16:45] Speaker 3: because like meaning, well was that thing of you know,
[16:49] Speaker 3: because it's just such a long day for there, mate,
[16:52] Speaker 3: Like it's such a big I know, she's like, I
[16:54] Speaker 3: know she's getting bigger, but it's such a long day.
[16:55] Speaker 3: Kind I'm like, yeah, I'm aware, shut the fuck.
[16:58] Speaker 1: Up about it. Please don't do anything about it.
[17:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, like yeah, so yeah, that people helping can trigger
[17:05] Speaker 3: you in ways where you're like, because I think it, Well,
[17:09] Speaker 3: the banana bread thing, You're like, that's not what I
[17:13] Speaker 3: need right now.
[17:13] Speaker 1: What I need right now is sleep. I liked when
[17:18] Speaker 1: they brought over hot meals, like a pasta bake or
[17:21] Speaker 1: a lasagne, Like this is something I can actually enjoy it.
[17:23] Speaker 1: But I like banana bread, but it's some an essential meal. Yeah, yes,
[17:27] Speaker 1: it's not helping me all that much. But I think
[17:30] Speaker 1: the other thing that can get you, though, is that
[17:33] Speaker 1: people helping you in a moment when you're feeling.
[17:37] Speaker 3: You're aware of your deficiencies. Yeah that sometimes it can
[17:42] Speaker 3: just like hold up a mirror a little bit too
[17:44] Speaker 3: much that you're not ready to look into live in Homer,
[17:47] Speaker 3: which doesn't say help Like, yeah, definitely, if you've got
[17:50] Speaker 3: people of your friends that and if you have friends
[17:53] Speaker 3: who become new parents, still help them because logically you
[17:56] Speaker 3: still appreciate it. Well, I sometimes your brain will go
[17:59] Speaker 3: to weirds spots.
[18:00] Speaker 1: I now ask them what can I do for you?
[18:02] Speaker 1: What would you like me to do? Don't just rock
[18:03] Speaker 1: up to the door with banana bread? Yeah, ask would
[18:05] Speaker 1: you like it?
[18:06] Speaker 3: This is the other thing that always bugged me about
[18:08] Speaker 3: the idea of bringing food. Actually, Daniel Kitson's got a
[18:12] Speaker 3: really good thing about someone baking him a cake, which
[18:14] Speaker 3: is a lot like saying I have decided that you
[18:17] Speaker 3: are going to eat a cake. The idea of a
[18:24] Speaker 3: passer bake or a lasagna or something is awesome in isolation.
[18:27] Speaker 3: But I've always had in my head that thing of like,
[18:30] Speaker 3: what if three other people did it and now they've
[18:32] Speaker 3: got more lasagna than fridge. You're giving people a logistical
[18:37] Speaker 3: fucking nightmare. Try to work the way it's so full
[18:40] Speaker 3: for a while. Yeah, that's a sketch idea. I've had
[18:44] Speaker 3: for ages that I would love to film of, like
[18:46] Speaker 3: someone going through because births and funerals, I think of
[18:50] Speaker 3: the two times that like a death in the family
[18:52] Speaker 3: is the other one will trigger people to make food
[18:54] Speaker 3: for you. I wanted to do that thing of like
[18:57] Speaker 3: so bad to cook so many well wishes essentially just
[19:00] Speaker 3: crushed someone in their kitchen under the plate of case.
[19:05] Speaker 1: Who's gonna do this dish? But then the button on
[19:08] Speaker 1: that scene too is a poo trying to fork one
[19:12] Speaker 1: of his kids off to Mark. But Mar don't do
[19:15] Speaker 1: it much. Also, like the Manjulia gun all that sex
[19:20] Speaker 1: for nothing, Well, that's a pretty grim assessment because we
[19:24] Speaker 1: were lucky. We were just like, you want to have
[19:25] Speaker 1: a kid? Yeah, sure, and then within like a couple
[19:27] Speaker 1: of weeks Nicolas pregnant. Yeah.
[19:29] Speaker 3: It was the same deal. Like Ash did do so
[19:31] Speaker 3: something like that.
[19:32] Speaker 1: You told a story once in the podcast of Ash
[19:37] Speaker 1: doing things and I was just like, well, if your
[19:39] Speaker 1: talent it, go for it. It was like gymnastic style
[19:42] Speaker 1: moving making sure certain stuff with a certain direction. Yeah,
[19:48] Speaker 1: it's like the big Lebowski I've got to have. I
[19:56] Speaker 1: wish I had a better memory.
[19:59] Speaker 3: No, the treatment health vitamins, that sort of stuff, Like
[20:05] Speaker 3: Ash was big on, like she didn't drink alcohol and
[20:09] Speaker 3: she was like reading as fertile as possible. Apparently them
[20:15] Speaker 3: taking the fertility drugs was I thing that happened in
[20:19] Speaker 3: the UK. The woman was pumped for a lot of
[20:21] Speaker 3: drugs and she ended up having eight kids, but all
[20:23] Speaker 3: stillborns unfortunately more but sorry, but yeah, that's what maybe
[20:26] Speaker 3: that's where.
[20:26] Speaker 1: That joke came from. Okay, you wouldn't re joke about that.
[20:29] Speaker 3: But having silver lining at least you've made it into.
[20:33] Speaker 1: But she she had a child, a daughter the following year. Okay, yeah,
[20:37] Speaker 1: so she got her, she got her little miracle in
[20:39] Speaker 1: the end. But but yeah, it was it was ash
[20:41] Speaker 1: big on the whole sort of.
[20:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, period trackers and stuff like that, ovulation trackers,
[20:47] Speaker 3: cycle trackers, whatever they're called. So that the thing of like,
[20:51] Speaker 3: oh she's ovulating, I've got to go like that vibe.
[20:53] Speaker 3: But similar to you, we were one and done. There
[20:56] Speaker 3: was no wasted sex accent the fish so also was
[21:02] Speaker 3: a big fan of the Baron. Yeah geat just as
[21:05] Speaker 3: silly as those was. I just loved the baron comes
[21:08] Speaker 3: out the flight of that the flight of Valkyries is
[21:10] Speaker 3: what it.
[21:10] Speaker 1: Is, right of the valkyries. But anyway, yeah, yeah, and
[21:14] Speaker 1: then they're booing him. Yeah, and I've always for some
[21:20] Speaker 1: reason when Apoo says oh cutter, it's always just stayed
[21:23] Speaker 1: in my mind.
[21:24] Speaker 3: That's an interesting thing because that over I mean funny,
[21:28] Speaker 3: but it also pops up under a list and it's
[21:30] Speaker 3: hard not to talk about this in twenty twenty six
[21:32] Speaker 3: of Is this a problematic episode?
[21:35] Speaker 1: In what way?
[21:36] Speaker 3: There's a number of jokes that make India the punch down.
[21:40] Speaker 1: At India in this the Eighth Wonder of the Third World?
[21:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, I love baby talk.
[21:45] Speaker 1: That was Hindi.
[21:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, I've noticed that this country is dangerously underpopulated on
[21:50] Speaker 3: my little curry face.
[21:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, there's quite a lot in.
[21:53] Speaker 3: This one where it's like, oh, maybe some of those
[21:55] Speaker 3: people in the documentary had a point.
[21:56] Speaker 1: Oh nineteen ninety nine, those were the days, and I
[22:01] Speaker 1: don't know that i'd maybe the Quickie Mart thing, but
[22:05] Speaker 1: like the head of the Quickie Mart.
[22:06] Speaker 3: But I don't know that it had really been as
[22:08] Speaker 3: on the nose up to this point about having so
[22:13] Speaker 3: many Indian jokes. I feel like for a long time,
[22:15] Speaker 3: a Pooh was an Indian character and that was never
[22:19] Speaker 3: the butt of the joke, and in this episode it
[22:22] Speaker 3: was quite a bunch.
[22:23] Speaker 1: Yeah. I think there were definitely times when it was
[22:26] Speaker 1: the butt of the joke, like, for example, much a
[22:29] Speaker 1: Poo about nothing when he wants to become an American. Yeah, okay,
[22:32] Speaker 1: and he's throwing out his heritage in order to but
[22:35] Speaker 1: when he gets married, the whole organized marriage, when they
[22:38] Speaker 1: actually got married, Yeah.
[22:40] Speaker 3: The organized marriage isn't necessarily played for comedy though, but
[22:43] Speaker 3: it is still playing into a stereotype.
[22:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, they did play into the stereotypes, but this one
[22:47] Speaker 1: felt like very much like Yeah, I didn't actually see
[22:49] Speaker 1: it as an issue in any pointed out. It's like
[22:51] Speaker 1: it kind of is concerning. Yeah, it was a tiny bit,
[22:55] Speaker 1: but the show is filled with stereotypes for sure.
[22:57] Speaker 3: But yeah, it was just one of those ones where
[22:59] Speaker 3: probably would never have thought about it had it not
[23:02] Speaker 3: been had time not passed, and had he not been
[23:04] Speaker 3: retired from the show, where it was hard.
[23:05] Speaker 1: Not to to go, oh, okay, I think enough time
[23:09] Speaker 1: has pass where you can bring him back. I mentioned
[23:11] Speaker 1: a couple of times. I think you could. I think
[23:12] Speaker 1: the Simpsons movie too. I think having it would be
[23:15] Speaker 1: a good marketing point for Poo's coming back. But I
[23:17] Speaker 1: wouldn't just use that Camel Nan Charny just don't we're
[23:21] Speaker 1: going to voice him, bring back voices him as sorry,
[23:27] Speaker 1: there you go yeah, the comedian, Yeah, he could step in.
[23:31] Speaker 1: Can you imagine can you imagine Sassi in ten?
[23:39] Speaker 3: He would have everyone in India watched that episode.
[23:43] Speaker 1: I pitched this tube Matt Saliment. I was like, you've
[23:45] Speaker 1: never done a cricket episode, right, Have the Simpsons go
[23:49] Speaker 1: to India or fall off a cricket and then get
[23:51] Speaker 1: as many Indian cricketers voice actors on the show. You
[23:55] Speaker 1: get a billion views? Yeah? A billion? Yeah daily? Yeah, yeah,
[24:04] Speaker 1: watched the book like hom Enters, the twenty twenty the IPI.
[24:07] Speaker 3: You know when Blue started being spoken about by literally
[24:09] Speaker 3: everyone in the country when they did a cricket episode. Yes, like,
[24:11] Speaker 3: up to that point, it was just a thing between
[24:13] Speaker 3: like parents.
[24:14] Speaker 1: Oh no, it was a big thing. But maybe Lexis
[24:17] Speaker 1: wasn't old enough yet.
[24:18] Speaker 3: No, But I mean, I don't think that if you
[24:21] Speaker 3: were not a parent of a kid of an age
[24:23] Speaker 3: that you were having a conversation about Blue in your
[24:25] Speaker 3: day to day life. We're were a cricket episode. Okay, yeah,
[24:27] Speaker 3: but you guys say kids, I'll say you didn't have kids,
[24:30] Speaker 3: say yeah, yeaheas cricket episode came out and suddenly people
[24:33] Speaker 3: that I knew that were fifty plus whose parents, whose
[24:36] Speaker 3: kids are you know, like twenty whatever. They were like,
[24:38] Speaker 3: how's this blue show? Like everyone that in my world
[24:42] Speaker 3: suddenly was very hyper aware of the show.
[24:44] Speaker 1: It was the first time they did a sport that
[24:46] Speaker 1: appealed to us because they do rugby all the time. Yeah,
[24:48] Speaker 1: and it's like I was gonna say that matted. I
[24:53] Speaker 1: did love. There was an episode where Bandit is trying
[24:56] Speaker 1: to do any sleep No, no, no, no, He's like, quite,
[24:59] Speaker 1: I'm just trying to watch the cricket and it's like
[25:00] Speaker 1: it's just on, it's and then something's happened. He's like,
[25:03] Speaker 1: I suppose what the score is. It's like, that's just
[25:05] Speaker 1: Saturday afternoon when the cricket's on. You know.
[25:07] Speaker 3: I enjoy fruit bat where he sleeps, sleeps and he's
[25:11] Speaker 3: imagining playing touch footy and just has a really cute,
[25:16] Speaker 3: beautiful line in there about how he doesn't get it
[25:18] Speaker 3: to do this anymore because he's looking after you guys.
[25:20] Speaker 3: But it's not a resentful things.
[25:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just what happens the evolution of life. Yeah,
[25:25] Speaker 1: any other favorite moments for you. Yeah. I really enjoyed
[25:30] Speaker 1: the Captain in Ikea. She swallowed me whole very very
[25:37] Speaker 1: silly fun I could have done without the tungsten guy. Yeah.
[25:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, not everything in that sequence was. It was a hit,
[25:46] Speaker 3: but it's.
[25:46] Speaker 1: Just one of those moments where I was just like,
[25:48] Speaker 1: I just don't feel like this would have happened in
[25:50] Speaker 1: earlier Simpsons. It did. Didn't make sense.
[25:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it didn't make a ton of sense.
[25:54] Speaker 1: They found me in a meteor. I need tungsten to live.
[25:57] Speaker 1: It's not a joke.
[25:57] Speaker 3: It doesn't go anywhere, and it's just an actor like
[25:59] Speaker 3: he's just and afterwards anyway, but yeah, he yeah, because
[26:02] Speaker 3: Marge asking the question and he just starts talking. But
[26:06] Speaker 3: he's something something they found in a meteor who is
[26:09] Speaker 3: trained to speak like a normal person. And then he
[26:11] Speaker 3: turns the bar. I'm actually something they found in the media.
[26:13] Speaker 3: I need tongs them to live. So is it meant
[26:15] Speaker 3: to be someone in a suit or was meant to
[26:17] Speaker 3: be to know I was paying attention, I genuinely thought
[26:21] Speaker 3: it was that him playing a kid. Yeah, maybe I'm wrong, possible,
[26:26] Speaker 3: that was just my reading of it at the time.
[26:28] Speaker 1: Next question, you there eating the Beast. My first question
[26:32] Speaker 1: for you trivia time is what did a pooh used
[26:36] Speaker 1: to get pregnant? A poom anjel. What were the things
[26:38] Speaker 1: they used after easy acts or not? The just so
[26:42] Speaker 1: he's a man like any other of the gravity boots,
[26:45] Speaker 1: sun Jay's bed, and every possible position on top of
[26:49] Speaker 1: I love that line.
[26:51] Speaker 3: Really every position is some variation of on top or underneath. Yeah, yeah,
[26:54] Speaker 3: it's just where you are in three D space. What
[26:58] Speaker 3: what is the logo on up? Who's car?
[27:02] Speaker 1: His bonnet? Snake?
[27:04] Speaker 3: I had it, and I could be wrong and you
[27:06] Speaker 3: could go to Frank Yak. I had it as Garuda,
[27:09] Speaker 3: who's in Egyptian.
[27:10] Speaker 1: God of birds? Is that it? Yeah? That's it? That's
[27:12] Speaker 1: I mean, that looks like a bird. I'll pay that
[27:15] Speaker 1: when you drop some markets like we pay it. I'm
[27:17] Speaker 1: like yeah, he cracks and I'm like, Noah, I didn't
[27:23] Speaker 1: hold it long enough. He's like, oh, but I'm like, dude,
[27:26] Speaker 1: just relax, but just kicking the footy. It doesn't matter.
[27:28] Speaker 1: My next question for you is what time were the
[27:31] Speaker 1: baby's born? Ah, seven eleven.
[27:35] Speaker 3: That would have been a good joke, would have been, Yeah,
[27:37] Speaker 3: it was Lex's actual birth time? Really even eleven am PM,
[27:41] Speaker 3: seven eleven pm.
[27:42] Speaker 1: See that joke. They don't have seven eleven, don't have
[27:44] Speaker 1: seven eleven in America? They do, Yeah they have eleven? Yeah,
[27:47] Speaker 1: yeah they do twelve fifteen?
[27:48] Speaker 3: Am okay, old born, how's me by the way, calling
[27:51] Speaker 3: out the Simpsons for racist shots, but as he works,
[27:55] Speaker 3: it came way too easy for it works at a
[27:57] Speaker 3: convenience store.
[27:58] Speaker 1: That's all.
[27:59] Speaker 3: That was convenience store joke. When they cut to the
[28:02] Speaker 3: choboby Ville news break for the nine none tuplets, whatever,
[28:07] Speaker 3: what channel news?
[28:09] Speaker 1: Oh so it's not channel six, I'm going to say
[28:11] Speaker 1: channel seven, Channel three, Channel three? Uh what number of
[28:15] Speaker 1: apartment does a pooh or do a pool and jewel
[28:18] Speaker 1: live in? Think about it? Okay, seven eleven. What is
[28:25] Speaker 1: the pivotal number of this episode? Eight eight?
[28:28] Speaker 3: Yes, that's it, just apartment eight eight eight or anything?
[28:32] Speaker 3: What brand of I'm going to assume nappies? There are
[28:35] Speaker 3: several packets in the house that are stacked up free
[28:38] Speaker 3: brand of nappies.
[28:40] Speaker 1: Slash wipes that might be sure. I'm sure some riter
[28:43] Speaker 1: spent hours thinking of a name.
[28:44] Speaker 3: But I'd be curious if they did waves.
[28:47] Speaker 1: Woves, w u v s. Yeah, weird? Did a play
[28:51] Speaker 1: on something I don't know? Love Love Day? Anyway? All right?
[28:55] Speaker 1: That is that trivia It is now time for our
[28:57] Speaker 1: review of eight Misbehaving With originally aired on November twenty first,
[29:02] Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine. Would you like to know the top
[29:04] Speaker 1: three films at US box office when this aired? I
[29:07] Speaker 1: would love do? Is your name Mitchell? Technically? Yeah? Excuse me?
[29:11] Speaker 1: I never called Mitchell. I was like Mitchell.
[29:12] Speaker 3: That doesn't sound right, MITCHA, No, it doesn't. People I
[29:15] Speaker 3: get called Mitchell at work because it's just on teams.
[29:17] Speaker 1: That's what it is.
[29:18] Speaker 3: People who don't know me will call me Mitchell and Mitchell.
[29:22] Speaker 3: It takes me a while to try to work them.
[29:24] Speaker 3: Wean them off that into Mitch what he was this
[29:28] Speaker 3: November twenty first, nineteen ninety nine. So number three was
[29:31] Speaker 3: toy story too. Sorry, yeah, number two a slippy hollow
[29:34] Speaker 3: at number one in the world is not enough?
[29:36] Speaker 1: Food is not enough? Any good?
[29:42] Speaker 3: The world's not enough?
[29:44] Speaker 1: Yeah? Something good? Golden right?
[29:47] Speaker 3: No, God, no, but the world's not enough. That's to
[29:49] Speaker 3: die another day and day. The world's not enough is
[29:55] Speaker 3: the Denise Richards and that's it. I don't think rich
[29:59] Speaker 3: it saw one as a nuclear physicist.
[30:04] Speaker 1: I think she can do anything.
[30:07] Speaker 3: No, I like the world was not enough? What a
[30:09] Speaker 3: lady good follow up to God and Sorry it wasn't
[30:12] Speaker 3: a follow up. It was after Smear and Have Dies.
[30:14] Speaker 3: But anyway, it was a good movie.
[30:15] Speaker 1: She put hairs on my chest, that woman watching Wild
[30:17] Speaker 1: Things when I was like nine hairs everywhere.
[30:20] Speaker 3: I also enjoy I do, frankly. I also enjoyed Dying
[30:24] Speaker 3: the Other Day, even though it is often seen as
[30:27] Speaker 3: the deer of the series and killed the Bond franchise
[30:30] Speaker 3: for a very long time. I just really loved Pitts Brosman.
[30:33] Speaker 1: He was a great Bond. Yeah, but it's because he's
[30:35] Speaker 1: our Bond. Christmas only comes once a year. I started
[30:40] Speaker 1: watching yesterday.
[30:41] Speaker 3: I am just brushing up on a little Danish.
[30:43] Speaker 1: Sorry.
[30:43] Speaker 3: He just would delivered the low mower Man. Oh wow,
[30:48] Speaker 3: how was that not what I expected? Going to download
[30:52] Speaker 3: that when I got It's a movie that I forgot existed.
[30:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, And at the start, I'm like, wow, these are
[30:58] Speaker 1: nineteen ninety two special if that's for sure? Yeah, maybe
[31:01] Speaker 1: even earlier.
[31:02] Speaker 3: Jeff Bridges in that. No, that's Tron, Sorry, Jeff Daniels, Yeah,
[31:08] Speaker 3: no is he.
[31:10] Speaker 1: I only watched it the first ten minutes. It's like
[31:14] Speaker 1: Monkey's breaking out of her For years, I've got to
[31:16] Speaker 1: go deep in the credit, So no, he's not. I
[31:18] Speaker 1: don't think so. Okay, the lawn mower Man and there's
[31:21] Speaker 1: two of them, the.
[31:22] Speaker 3: Lawn Actually, you're right. I do remember seeing the lawnmower
[31:25] Speaker 3: Man two in my.
[31:26] Speaker 1: Visits to for well, those movies that just be on
[31:27] Speaker 1: the shop at the video store and you're like, what
[31:29] Speaker 1: is this and the guys that you can't borrow that yet?
[31:30] Speaker 3: Based on a short story by Stephen King.
[31:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, yep, this episode, as I said, November twenty first,
[31:36] Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine, b A B F zero three, written
[31:39] Speaker 1: by Matt Salmon, directed by Stephen de Moore. Chootball gag
[31:42] Speaker 1: Indian burns are not our cultural heritage. Mm hmm like
[31:50] Speaker 1: Chinese whispers Indian burns exhibit F. You're remember the old
[31:53] Speaker 1: Indian giver? Yeah? Is that because the white people are
[31:58] Speaker 1: so racist? They're like that're trying to get their land back.
[32:01] Speaker 1: That's why Indian givers you give a present and take
[32:03] Speaker 1: it back. Good question. Did white people just make it
[32:06] Speaker 1: up saying they gave us the land and then what
[32:08] Speaker 1: to back? The couch gag is the Simpsons sit on
[32:13] Speaker 1: the couch and the war spins around revealing vincent price
[32:15] Speaker 1: and ned Flanners is shackled to the warpside down. We
[32:18] Speaker 1: didn't mention the guest stars. So Jenhooks plays Manjula Jenhooks
[32:21] Speaker 1: fantastic comedian Gary Marshall plays Larry Kid Kill.
[32:24] Speaker 3: Oh okay, the term came. It's actually less racist as
[32:28] Speaker 3: much as it's uprising.
[32:30] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[32:30] Speaker 3: So, I mean, look, this is just my foot. Oh no,
[32:33] Speaker 3: it's a Wikipedia here we go. I don't what's racist.
[32:35] Speaker 3: Yep originated in the fifteenth to the eighteenth century from
[32:39] Speaker 3: a cultural misunderstanding. European settlers misinterpreted the indigenous North Americans
[32:44] Speaker 3: custom of trading gifts. Since the native tribes Lapped lacked
[32:48] Speaker 3: monetary system, they bartered items, exchanging them with the expectation
[32:52] Speaker 3: of a reciprocal or equivalent return. So the Europeans like, ah,
[32:56] Speaker 3: they've given us a gift, like motherfucker, Yeah.
[33:00] Speaker 1: Something in return. Yeah, but I thought Indian giver was
[33:02] Speaker 1: you give a present and then take the same present back.
[33:04] Speaker 3: I feel like that's what it came on came into.
[33:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I how did Chinese whispers become Chinese whispers?
[33:11] Speaker 1: Michael Chang? Yeah, I can't trust him. You could not
[33:14] Speaker 1: trust him in the locker room. He was just butch
[33:20] Speaker 1: Patrick plays himself. Yeah, Gary Marshall's that's a big get.
[33:23] Speaker 1: He directed the other Sister did He did like all
[33:26] Speaker 1: those Valentine's Day in the New Year's Day and all
[33:28] Speaker 1: those movies. Oh Rush's director, right, Yeah. He created Happy Days.
[33:31] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Princess Diaries, the Other System, Runaway Bride, Pretty Woman,
[33:36] Speaker 1: he did Pretty Woman, Beaches Overboard. Yeah.
[33:38] Speaker 3: Well that's a good career if your cherry picked the
[33:41] Speaker 3: good ones.
[33:43] Speaker 1: Just have a look at the list. I mean he
[33:44] Speaker 1: created Happy Days. That's a pretty big credit. Yeah, yeah,
[33:48] Speaker 1: all right. So the episode kicks off with what Mitchell, Yeah,
[33:52] Speaker 1: the Ikea Shoop Simpsons shop with the how do you
[33:56] Speaker 1: say that shoop? How would you say that shop? Shop?
[33:59] Speaker 1: That's over the line through it anyway?
[34:01] Speaker 3: Oh?
[34:01] Speaker 1: With the line through it? Yeah, because it's a Swedish store.
[34:06] Speaker 1: I care obviously, marg she likes the green tables. Homer
[34:09] Speaker 1: falls into the bean bag with the Sea Captain Alan Wrench,
[34:12] Speaker 1: which we've already discussed, and then marginally so chatting about
[34:14] Speaker 1: the various pencil holders. The people still use pencil.
[34:16] Speaker 3: Holders, penholders, they still think, I'm sure some people do.
[34:19] Speaker 1: Some people yeah, home and then orders as popland Hugen
[34:23] Speaker 1: and a doodlemoch of doodle mooch doodle munch from the
[34:26] Speaker 1: from the cafeteria. The fox are made of legos Homer
[34:28] Speaker 1: device is a little four way thing to eat everyone's food.
[34:32] Speaker 1: Then a poor man jewel arrive. So what was the
[34:34] Speaker 1: whole point of the Ikea store? There was no point
[34:36] Speaker 1: to the story. It was just when did I Care
[34:39] Speaker 1: become popular? It was being made fun of in the
[34:42] Speaker 1: Wire in like nineteen ninety. It was two thousand and nine,
[34:45] Speaker 1: two thousand, so was the two thousand.
[34:47] Speaker 3: It was this purely that I Care around that time
[34:50] Speaker 3: is coming into the cultural zeat geist and they're like,
[34:52] Speaker 3: we got to get some care jokes into here.
[34:54] Speaker 1: Possibly it wasn't big in Australia. I don't think not yet.
[34:57] Speaker 1: Have you started watching my Wire Blue rays yet?
[34:59] Speaker 3: I have. I was actually I was looking at the
[35:01] Speaker 3: Wire book on your bookshelf. Shit, I need to bring
[35:03] Speaker 3: those down.
[35:04] Speaker 1: I also looking at my TV. I was like, I'd
[35:05] Speaker 1: really like to watch the Wire. I wonder if just
[35:07] Speaker 1: watching it yet? Yeah? No, I wasn't asking what it
[35:08] Speaker 1: looks like. It look good sharp? Yeah, it's just man,
[35:12] Speaker 1: when is it white screen or is it square white
[35:16] Speaker 1: screen when when white screen it used to be square.
[35:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, and that makes like you know those things where
[35:21] Speaker 3: sometimes that's good, sometimes that bad that sometimes that baym.
[35:27] Speaker 3: The close ups aren't quite as intense. So the interrogation scene,
[35:29] Speaker 3: for example, like that's better in four three because you're
[35:32] Speaker 3: in this small box and it's framed to be like
[35:34] Speaker 3: really tight. But when they discover the bodies, so when
[35:39] Speaker 3: like then they break down the door and it's just
[35:41] Speaker 3: the I think it's the season end of it. The
[35:43] Speaker 3: very least the episode ends and the camera just on
[35:45] Speaker 3: a crane is slowly panning backwards and it just shows
[35:49] Speaker 3: like the width like that was actually one of the
[35:51] Speaker 3: first shots that was like I want to see that
[35:53] Speaker 3: in wide screen because you just see this sense of
[35:55] Speaker 3: scale you didn't get the first time at least as like,
[35:58] Speaker 3: holy fuck, all of these potentially got a murder victim
[36:02] Speaker 3: in them.
[36:03] Speaker 1: I don't think they cropped it either. They've just added
[36:06] Speaker 1: like the stuff that you never used to be able
[36:07] Speaker 1: to see. Yeah, yeah, exactly when you finished to bring
[36:11] Speaker 1: it back. Yes, so then little Ray's coming. Yes, I
[36:17] Speaker 1: don't want get into the wire. Will never stop talking
[36:19] Speaker 1: about it, so pod. Some somewmer already has there'd be
[36:22] Speaker 1: a wire pod, but there's no reason we can't do
[36:23] Speaker 1: one in the whole. Get John Cena on what's his name,
[36:26] Speaker 1: the actual actor, the main actor. It sounds like John Cena,
[36:29] Speaker 1: who sounds like John Cena, the mayor actor MC Daddy West. Yeah,
[36:34] Speaker 1: he sounds like John Cena. Put him next to John
[36:37] Speaker 1: Cena and I know, but when he's doing his Baltimore
[36:41] Speaker 1: Baltimore is it and it's also got has they got
[36:43] Speaker 1: fat John sena in it? Fat John c Yeah, yeah,
[36:50] Speaker 1: he's John Cena. That's pretty literally maybe police. Yeah, so
[37:00] Speaker 1: this is where poor Angula arrived. Are you guys still married? Yeah?
[37:03] Speaker 1: Pay up, Marge. So I think that's just referring to
[37:06] Speaker 1: the fact that they haven't probably been mentioned since he
[37:08] Speaker 1: got married, or just reminding the viewers they've been buying
[37:10] Speaker 1: lamps that don't look like lamps, and Angula's smitt never
[37:13] Speaker 1: Maggie and Marge. I think she was talking baby talk,
[37:16] Speaker 1: but it was Hindi as you were saying, hoping this.
[37:17] Speaker 1: His kids are great because you can teach them to
[37:19] Speaker 1: hate things that you hate, and they basically raise themselves
[37:22] Speaker 1: there because of the Internet and who thinks USA is
[37:24] Speaker 1: dangerously underpopulated, so they decide to have a child. Him
[37:27] Speaker 1: saying that he wants to be a father pretty much
[37:30] Speaker 1: is just like what is it with women? You say
[37:32] Speaker 1: you want to be a father, It's like a massive
[37:33] Speaker 1: tone onto them. Mangula just pounces on him. She's like,
[37:35] Speaker 1: take me now. Yeah.
[37:36] Speaker 3: Well, Mandela is pretty clucky in this moment as well, though,
[37:39] Speaker 3: like she's already like gravitated towards Maggie as.
[37:43] Speaker 1: Ash seemed clucky since having legs and you have gone,
[37:45] Speaker 1: oh lady, have your thought about it?
[37:49] Speaker 3: No, no, I wouldn't say that. I think Ash has
[37:52] Speaker 3: yearned for the for those moments of a newborn game. Yeah,
[37:57] Speaker 3: but never, it's never been seriously on the table. As
[37:59] Speaker 3: she mentioned the babies, Yeah, the baby smell. She doesn't
[38:03] Speaker 3: mentioned the smell not but I think it goes our.
[38:05] Speaker 1: Friends have babies, Nicola smells. I'm like, Nicola, don't even
[38:07] Speaker 1: think about someone else's baby. Don't think about it. It's
[38:10] Speaker 1: not happening. Because what happens. She's like, She's like, you
[38:15] Speaker 1: have another one. She's like and then she's im stop
[38:17] Speaker 1: and pause. Remember remember She's like, oh shit, I don't
[38:23] Speaker 1: want to. But who was now chilling his loins in
[38:27] Speaker 1: the ice cream cooler?
[38:28] Speaker 3: I can't imagine that would help. That's gonna slow this out,
[38:31] Speaker 3: That's what I thought. Yeah, it's like you don't want
[38:32] Speaker 3: to be doing that, the nice and temperate hey.
[38:35] Speaker 1: Boo sitting in the ice cream cooler. Eh, like chilling
[38:38] Speaker 1: my loins?
[38:38] Speaker 3: I increase the chances of impregnating my wife.
[38:41] Speaker 1: Well, he too much information?
[38:44] Speaker 2: Thanks for the mental picture.
[38:46] Speaker 1: Why don't you tell us what you really think? You
[38:48] Speaker 1: stop spouting those hackneyed quips. Could you be anymore? Hello? Look,
[38:57] Speaker 1: just give me some ice cream? How about one not
[39:02] Speaker 1: touching your ass? What? Manru that has begun to ovulent you?
[39:07] Speaker 2: Thanks for sharing.
[39:10] Speaker 1: More than I wanted to know. I wasn't a fan
[39:13] Speaker 1: of the too much information. It's just.
[39:17] Speaker 3: I've gone on agnause him about how much. Not only
[39:20] Speaker 3: did I do not like it here, I hated anyone
[39:21] Speaker 3: that ever said it in my childhood.
[39:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, a manjel has begun overulating, so he leaves, and
[39:27] Speaker 1: then the pregnancy tests baby baby lemon. So they're not
[39:30] Speaker 1: preying all that sex for nothing. Then Homer is now
[39:32] Speaker 1: cooking a barbecue, just putting cans on the on the barbecue.
[39:35] Speaker 1: I didn't mind this. Are you sure you shouldn't open them?
[39:38] Speaker 1: The cancel in the flavor says nothing, Okay, that's the lid.
[39:42] Speaker 1: I't you do it us? Homer tos some some steps,
[39:46] Speaker 1: like when you decide to have kids, decided maybe it's
[39:49] Speaker 1: just happened. No, that is I actually did really enjoy that.
[39:54] Speaker 1: I won't side bar too much on that, but I
[39:57] Speaker 1: it's just a jab at middle class society where it's
[40:00] Speaker 1: like we just pump out kids with av and trying.
[40:02] Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of things. It's that, but
[40:04] Speaker 3: you could also read into that that people who have
[40:08] Speaker 3: not had to struggle to get pregnant can't possibly relate
[40:11] Speaker 3: to the pain and the anguish and all that stuff
[40:14] Speaker 3: that other people have had to go through. That, yeah,
[40:16] Speaker 3: are trying hard. So I'm very much Homer, you are
[40:19] Speaker 3: as well.
[40:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, and you want baby, me give you a baby.
[40:24] Speaker 1: You want baby now? Yeah? But on top and underneath
[40:28] Speaker 1: that slavey, I was like, all right, everybody, are we
[40:32] Speaker 1: gonna leave it there? I hope you enjoyed that. Little
